Lean is a widespread philosophy in industrial circles which these days is increasingly applied within the service sector as well. Lean comprises 5 main principles:
- Identifying what the client sees as the value-adding elements of the process
- Identifying the value stream ("Value Stream Mapping")
- Ensuring value-adding steps flow more effectively ("Flow")
- Removing all obstacles obstructing smooth flow
- Generating "Pull". Pulling goods and services throughout the various process steps: the most
efficient production method. - Constant striving towards continuous improvement. Remember: by aiming for perfect processes,
excellent processes become a realistic outcome ("Continuous Improvement towards Process
